Pain Detection

Innovation

Bluejay is a cutting-edge platform advancing pain detection through facial expression analysis and scalable data management.

Bluejay is a groundbreaking project that I had the privilege to design in collaboration with renowned institutions such as CHUV and HUG in Switzerland and the Pasteur Institute in France. At its core, Bluejay consists of a custom application that allows users to record themselves imitating various facial expressions, capturing valuable video and photo data. This data is securely uploaded to a central server, forming the foundation for advanced research into the relationship between facial expressions and pain.

Complementing this application, I designed a patient record management SaaS platform to handle and analyze the collected data at scale. This system enables researchers to organize and interpret large datasets efficiently, paving the way for actionable insights. Together, the app and SaaS form a cohesive ecosystem tailored to the needs of healthcare and research professionals.

The project's ultimate goal is to improve understanding of pain through facial expression analysis. Bluejay's findings could revolutionize healthcare by assisting in monitoring senior citizens, identifying pain in infants, and enhancing overall patient care for nonverbal individuals.
